The dating game has changed over the last 10 years and so more single men and women are jumping onto dating apps more than ever especially with Covid-19 impacting the world.
The increased rate in users on Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, Eharmony is at an all time high right now since March 2020 and still increasing as I type this article.
So it brings me to that question, what is the best Tinder pick up line ?
Firstly I would like to point out that pickup lines don't actually work and unfortunately so many reputable websites promote using them stating that they work for most men. Now I know you're probably disappointing hearing this, thinking that you clicked on this blog wanting to see the Top 10 Best pickup lines used for Tinder, so you can finally get on some dates this week. I have good news and bad news for you, the bad news is unfortunately pickup lines are extremely tacky and won't get you the success you are looking for. The good news is, what will give you that success is using certain principles of creative openers which I will share with you in this blog post today.
I've heard and seen so many cringe worthy pickup lines that send chills down my spine, it's horrendous! Let's start this article off by taking a look at what doesn't quite work and why, before I share with you what does work and how you can start applying them.
Here are some examples I've chosen off reputable sites that claim these actually work, but please bare with me while we get through these together and see how bad they are!
#1 Typical cheesy pickup line
Guy - "Are you from Tennessee?.... Because you're the only 10 I see"
This is a typical pickup line you may see being used in Youtube videos, but mostly for pranks or daygame pickup videos. Most of the time you'll see the girl laughing as a response thinking that it's a positive response. Don't get me wrong, laughing is a great response, but would they be laughing with you because they instantly feel attraction? Or would they be laughing at you?
When you put this into a Tinder context, you'll definitely get the same type of response from the girl, and you can easily identify this as you read through this blog in the later examples.
#2 Puns on Her Name
This one was a highly recommended pickup line off a website that suggested it could be used on dating apps and has a high success rate.
Looking at this in depth, it's great how the guy is being creative with her name in a fun and playful manner, however I would suggest not to go for the obvious.
If the girls name is such as 'Sydney' or 'Paris' , you can almost bet that every other guy has made reference to her name and made a pun/joke towards it which won't make you stand out at all. It's always best if the guy becomes creative and fun making reference to something else in the girl's bio instead.
Standing out is what we want to achieve, however the response he gets may at first appear to be very positive but isn't exactly the best.
She doesn't given him much to work with for him to further escalate the conversation, so it displays low compliance and interest from her end. Because of her low interest from the beginning, the guy then results in chasing with very cringe worthy pickup lines. Of course she is not going to respond to that!
Again she was laughing at him on all the responses than laughing with him.
This guy became too easy and was no challenge at all putting her up on a massive pedestal, rolling out the red carpet for her whilst on dusting her shoes at the same time.
#3 Low value / approval giving pickup line
This "Tinder pickup line" was rated as the Top 3 for men to use, on another popular website. Now there definitely is room for improvement on this one. It's great how it starts with "Hey I was writing an article on the finer things in life..." as it demonstrates in his narrative that he is a high value man being a journalist who is writing an article, however the issue here is it that the guy then puts himself in a low value position by putting her on a massive pedestal with the rest of his message saying "and I was hoping I could interview you".
He gives her validation from the beginning without her earning it and places her as some sort of celebrity, high status girl in his narrative. You can see that she isn't at all very impressed by her response. She is basically saying to herself
*Ugh... not another one of these guys that kiss my ass. Where are the real men on this dating app that will throw me a challenge me*
A better way this guy could have re-framed his opening message is "I was writing an article this morning for the Herald Sun, and I'm required to describe in 25 words or less how we met. Your assistance is required"
This demonstrates fun, playful, and inviting, without giving her massive validation and being all chasey/ass kissing
The sort of things we want to look for are the small hidden details. I still encourage you to say something different or be creative about something obvious, either from her photos or her bio, but whatever your opener is that you send her, you must ensure it makes you stand out.
Let’s first look at the bio on the girls profile. The first approach to consider is to start with a witty remark that somehow references what they’ve written. Here is a really good example;
In one of my matches using Tinder, her profile had:
Girlfriend material? Check
Will bust out “Stand By Me”? Check
Favourite Language? Czech
Where to deposit, savings or? Cheque
It’s a funny and witty bio. Most guys would be compelled to open with a comment about any one line here with something obvious. Maybe something about her being girlfriend material and if she can really speak Czech. These are common and overused conversational themes. We can certainly do a lot better than that, given the Top 3 examples earlier on the 'Best Tinder pickup lines.' My response and her reaction should hopefully emphasise this for you.
You can see the result for yourself. Comparing this with the bad pickup lines, you want to approach with a fun, witty opener that will demonstrate high value and make her chase. Not only stand out, but have her feel and think 'finally a guy that gets it!'
